Kings' Murray out at least 4-6 weeks with thumb injury
Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray is out at least four-to-six weeks after an MRI revealed a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, the team announced Sunday.
Murray sustained the injury during the second quarter of Friday's preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers and will undergo surgery.
Sacramento drafted Murray with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 draft.
The Iowa product has started all but two of his appearances with the Kings. He was fifth in the Rookie of the Year voting in 2022-23 and named to the NBA All-Rookie first team.
Murray took a slight step back last season, averaging 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists across 76 appearances.
Sacramento has until 6 p.m. ET on Oct. 20 to sign Murray to a rookie-scale contract extension.
