Cavs' Strus out 3-4 months after foot surgery
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Max Strus is expected to miss three-to-four months after undergoing surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot, the team announced Tuesday.
The 29-year-old recently sustained the injury during offseason training.
Strus would miss at least 19 games under the timeline provided by the club.
Strus' absence could shift De'Andre Hunter into the starting lineup and open up more minutes for sharpshooter Sam Merrill and second-year guard Jaylon Tyson off the bench.
Cleveland inked Strus to a four–year, $63-million contract in 2023 as part of a sign-and-trade deal involving the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs.
Strus was limited to just 50 appearances last season but had a solid playoff showing, averaging 11.7 points and shooting 38.8% from deep.
