Report: Ty Jerome joining Grizzlies on 3-year, $28M deal
The Memphis Grizzlies will sign free-agent guard Ty Jerome to a three-year, $28-million contract, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Jerome, 27, is coming off a career-best year with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 12.5 points and 3.4 assists while shooting 43.9% from beyond the arc - tying him with Taurean Prince for the NBA's third-best 3-point percentage among qualified shooters.
He was instrumental in a reserve role for Kenny Atkinson's squad, helping the Cavaliers top the Eastern Conference with a 64-18 record before finishing third in Sixth Man of the Year voting behind Malik Beasley and award-winner Payton Pritchard.
Cleveland appeared to signal a readiness to part with Jerome Saturday when it reportedly traded Isaac Okoro to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for veteran ball-handler Lonzo Ball. The Cavs also reportedly re-signed Sam Merrill to a 4-year, $38-million deal and selected Duke point guard Tyrese Proctor with the 49th overall pick in this year's draft, fleshing out a backcourt rotation behind expected starters Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
