Report: Randle re-signing with Wolves on 3-year, $100M deal
Forward Julius Randle is signing a three-year deal worth $100 million to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told Shams Charania of ESPN.
The contract includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, Charania adds.
Randle had a $30.9-million player option to decide on for this summer that would have allowed him to test free agency Monday. Instead, the 30-year-old will reportedly decline the option to sign a new long-term deal with Minnesota.
The three-time All-Star is coming off a solid debut year with the Timberwolves, averaging 18.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. Randle was among Minnesota's most dependable players throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs, posting 23.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 5.9 rebounds per game to help Chris Finch's side go 8-2 through the Western Conference semifinals. However, he was inconsistent in the conference finals against the eventual NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, scoring six and five points in Games 2 and 4, respectively, but recording at least 24 points in the three other contests.
The Timberwolves acquired Randle in the preseason blockbuster trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks.
Randle's reported re-signing continues a busy offseason for the Wolves following their third conference finals berth in franchise history. On Friday, Minnesota reportedly reached an agreement with center Naz Reid on a five-year, $125-million contract, days after taking French center Joan Beringer with the 17th overall pick in the draft. The club was also among several reported teams that attempted to trade for Kevin Durant before the Phoenix Suns agreed to ship the former MVP to the Houston Rockets.
