Report: Durant prefers Spurs, Rockets, Heat if traded by Suns
Kevin Durant has a couple of teams in mind for his next chapter.
The San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are among the Phoenix Suns star's preferred destinations if he's traded this summer, sources told The Athletic's Sam Amick, Jon Krawczynski, and Kelly Iko. Durant would also be on board with joining the Miami Heat, added ESPN's Shams Charania.
Durant, 36, can't outright control where he lands as he's under contract through this coming season. However, he can exert some influence thanks to his expiring deal; teams have been informed that the three aforementioned franchises are the ones with which Durant would agree to a longer-term deal, according to Charania.
The Spurs, Rockets, and Heat are all among a list of several teams that have reportedly reached out to the Suns recently regarding the 15-time All-Star. The Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks have also reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Durant.
Phoenix is widely expected to part with the two-time Finals MVP sometime this offseason as it attempts to retool around Devin Booker and first-year head coach Jordan Ott. The Suns reportedly lowered their asking price for Durant earlier this month in the hope of completing a trade before the NBA draft June 25.
