The Minnesota Timberwolves kicked off Thursday's second round of the 2025 NBA Draft by selecting Saint Joseph's Rasheer Fleming on behalf of the Phoenix Suns with the 31st overall pick.
Fleming, 20, is heading to the Suns following a Thursday trade where Phoenix shipped the 36th selection and two future second-round picks to the T-Wolves for the No. 31 choice. The 36th pick initially belonged to the Brooklyn Nets, who sent it to the Suns earlier Thursday in exchange for two future second-round picks.
The Suns also reportedly moved up to the 41st pick in a swap with the Golden State Warriors for the 52nd and 59th picks in this year's draft.
The 6-foot-8 power forward is Phoenix's second pick after Duke center and 10th overall selection Khaman Maluach was acquired Wednesday night from the Houston Rockets as part of the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade.
Fleming's 7-foot-4 wingspan fits the profile of an elite rim protector. He was in the 98th percentile for defensive rating among all Division I players and averaged three stocks per game (1.6 blocks and 1.4 steals) during his junior year at Saint Joseph's. He's also an accomplished spot-up threat and shot 39% in his final season with the Hawks.
