The Dallas Mavericks organization is reportedly worried about the safety of president of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison after the team traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports.
As a result of Harrison being "subjected to death threats," with some including "racial epithets," the executive won't be sitting in his normal seat in the stands and security will be increased to deal with protests outside Saturday's home game against the Houston Rockets.
Saturday marks the Mavericks' first game in Dallas since trading Doncic away in a Feb. 2 blockbuster deal that brought in Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
The report comes one day after Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd told TNT's Allie LaForce that Davis has "the shoulders to carry this load," alluding to the blowback the organization expects.
Klay Thompson said Thursday that he expects "probably some boos" from Saturday's home crowd.
