Kings' Monk out at least 2 weeks with ankle sprain
Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk will miss at least two weeks due to a moderate right ankle sprain, the team announced Monday, per James Ham of The Kings Beat.
Monk sustained the injury in the second quarter of Sunday's overtime win over the Phoenix Suns and didn't return.
X-rays on Monk's ankle revealed no structural damage.
Monk continues to play a lead role on the Kings' second unit, averaging 12.6 points, three boards, and 2.8 assists across 10 appearances. The Kentucky product finished second in last season's Sixth Man of the Year vote.
Sacramento ranks 29th in bench scoring (23.1 points per game) despite Monk's steady play.
The Kings also provided updates on rookie guard Devin Carter and center Orlando Robinson.
Carter has been cleared for unrestricted shooting as he continues to rehab from left shoulder surgery, while Robinson has been cleared for contact after sustaining a sprained MCL in practice last month.
Sacramento is 6-5 and tied for ninth in the West.
