Celtics sign Lonnie Walker IV to 1-year deal
The Boston Celtics are signing former Brooklyn Nets wing Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year contract, his representation told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Walker will compete for a roster spot after signing an Exhibit 10 deal, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania. The Celtics would pay him a bonus if he is waived after training camp and plays for the team's G League Affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
The 25-year-old averaged 9.7 points and shot 38% on 3-pointers in 58 games with the Nets last season.
Walker is the only external free agent signed by the defending champions this summer. Boston brought back Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet, and Neemias Queta on new deals, while extending Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Sam Hauser.
The former University of Miami wing started his career with the San Antonio Spurs, who selected him 18th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. He also spent one season with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022-23, averaging 14.7 points as a starter before suffering knee tendinitis.
