Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is joining Major League Gaming's board of directors to help MLG become a mainstream sports property, according to GameSpot.
Morey, a known lover of video games, brought new Rockets center Dwight Howard to MLG Anaheim in June, where he and other NBA athletes played a showmatch in "Call of Duty: Black Ops II."
"As a personal fan of eSports and a competitive gamer myself, I have been closely following the growth and evolution of MLG for years," Morey said. "MLG has the potential to be one of the biggest sports media businesses in the future. I look forward to working with the MLG team as they continue to be pioneers in the digital world."
MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni also expressed his excitement at Morey joining his company.
"We are incredible excited to have Daryl join our team as we continue to build the first global, truly digital sport," DiGiovanni said. "His experience in the NBA, emphasis on data and technology, and passion for video games, makes him the perfect addition and we look forward to benefiting from his knowledge and success."
