New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson is out at least six-to-eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his left hand, the team announced Wednesday.
Brunson suffered a broken hand in the second half of Sunday's season-ending Game 7 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The Villanova product had a strong postseason, averaging 32.4 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.3 boards to help bring the Knicks to within one victory of their first East final in 24 years. His 47-point performance against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 4 of the opening round was a new franchise record for points in a playoff contest.
Brunson earned his first career All-Star nod earlier this season and finished fifth in MVP and Most Improved Player award voting.
New York also ruled out Bojan Bogdanovic for at least six-to-eight weeks after the veteran forward had surgery on his injured left wrist.

The Knicks acquired Bogdanovic in a midseason trade with the Detroit Pistons. The 35-year-old averaged 10.4 points and shot 37% from deep over 29 appearances with New York.
However, Bogdanovic only suited up in four postseason contests after sustaining a foot injury in the opening round that required a separate procedure last month.
Bogdanovic is under contract for one more season at $19 million. His salary becomes fully guaranteed on June 28.
