Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo will undergo surgery after sustaining a torn Achilles tendon, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

It's unclear when the injury occurred or how long Antetokounmpo will be sidelined.

Antetokounmpo has played sparingly during his six-year NBA career. He has spent the last five seasons with the Bucks, averaging 2.4 points in 7.7 minutes.

Antetokounmpo was a member of Milwaukee's championship team in 2021. He was previously with Greek club Panathinaikos and Spanish team Andorra.

The New York Knicks selected Antetokounmpo with the No. 51 overall pick in 2014. However, he made just two appearances for the team, spending most of his stint with the G League's Westchester Knicks.

Antetokounmpo is the older brother of two-time MVP Giannis.
