The Detroit Pistons have ruled out Ausar Thompson and Isaiah Stewart for the remainder of the season, the team announced Wednesday.
Thompson is being treated for a blood clot, while Stewart sustained a hamstring strain during Monday's contest against the Boston Celtics.
Thompson has been cleared to resume conditioning and will begin non-contact activities at the end of the regular season. He had missed the Pistons' last five contests.
Detroit selected Thompson with the No. 5 overall pick in last year's draft. He showed promise in his rookie year, averaging 8.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals over 63 appearances.
Thompson tallied five blocks in his NBA debut versus the Miami Heat, becoming the youngest player in league history to accomplish the feat in his first game.
Meanwhile, Stewart registered 10.9 points and 6.6 boards per contest across 46 games. He inked a four-year, $60-million contract extension last summer that'll kick in next season.
