Tuesday features a six-game NBA slate. Monday night was an entertaining (and successful) night in the association. Let's hope Tuesday is the same. Here are our three best bets.
Heat @ Bucks (-8, O/U 225.5)
The Bucks are coming off a 17-point home win over the Nuggets on Monday night. They don't have the burden of traveling, but they're still playing for the second time in as many nights. Milwaukee could have tired legs offensively.
Defensively, the Bucks have improved in the last couple of weeks. They have the sixth-best defensive rating over the last six games and just held the defending champions to 95 points.
The Heat are a weakened group as Jimmy Butler is absent for personal reasons and Terry Rozier is out with a knee injury.
Miami already has a bottom-tier offense, but it'll be even more difficult to score without some of their best weapons. However, the Heat's defense ranks in the top 10.
The Bucks have gone under the total in seven of their last eight games. Miami has 60% of its games go under the total, the league's second-best rate. That percentage soars when the Heat is on the road with 68% of Miami's away contests going under the total.
Pick: Under 225.5
Derrick White over 2.5 threes
Derrick White is in a mini-slump. He's missed his last nine 3-pointers. But great shooters shoot themselves out of slumps, and that's what I expect from White.
He's shooting 39% from deep and is a high-volume shooter, even when he's struggling. White attempts 6.7 threes per game and gets open looks playing alongside Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. White averages 2.6 makes per game.
Against the Nets' 12th-worst defense, White will find his rhythm. Part of Brooklyn's defensive collapses are because they allow teams to shoot the three at a high rate. The Nets allow the 10th-most threes per game and have the seventh-worst opponent 3-point percentage.
Odds: -110 (playable to -120)
Jusuf Nurkic: Under 22.5 points and rebounds
Jusuf Nurkic has failed to reach 23 combined points and rebounds in nine of the last 12 games. Nurkic has had some dominant rebounding outings, but he's an inconsistent scorer. He doesn't attempt a ton of shots. Most of his scoring opportunities come on putback chances or when he rolls to the rim.
Nurkic and the Suns have a difficult matchup against the Kings on Tuesday night. Sacramento allows the fewest points per game to centers. The Kings have a strong interior defense that could pose problems for Nurkic.
Odds: -115 (playable to -120)
