Cavs' Thompson suspended 25 games for doping
Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson has been suspended 25 games without pay for violating the NBA's anti-drug program, the league announced Tuesday.
The veteran tested positive for two substances: Ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033.
Thompson's ban is effective immediately, beginning with Wednesday's contest against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Damian Jones and Isaiah Mobley are expected to fill Thompson's minutes behind starting center Jarrett Allen. The team also recently signed Pete Nance to a 10-day contract.
The 32-year-old reunited with the Cavs this past offseason on a one-year deal. He's played limited minutes for the club, averaging 3.8 points and 3.9 boards over 36 appearances.
Cleveland drafted Thompson fourth overall in 2011. He sits third on the franchise's all-time list in rebounds and sixth in games played.
