Monty: Ausar, Sasser make me want to arrange marriage with my daughters
Monty Williams is so impressed with Detroit Pistons rookies Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser's Summer League play that he's ready to make them family.
"I've become a fan of Ausar and Sass. Their toughness, we saw it down the stretch," the Pistons head coach said on Friday's ESPN broadcast, courtesy of The Athletic's Omari Sanfoka. "Those two guys just made play after play and played winning basketball, which is something that makes me want to take them home and arrange a marriage with my daughters."
Of course, Williams made the comment in jest while sitting with the commentary team.

It's not the first time Williams has joked about matching an NBA player with one of his daughters. Back in October 2019, during his first season as head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Williams made a similar joke about then-Los Angeles Clippers guard Landry Shamet, who he befriended the previous season during their shared time with the Philadelphia 76ers. Two years later, Shamet joined Williams in Phoenix and played a pair of seasons under the bench boss.
For what it's worth, Thompson did have a solid first half Friday against the San Antonio Spurs. The fifth overall pick in June's draft had eight points and seven rebounds by the break, including a vicious putback slam late in the second quarter.

By the end of the third quarter, Thompson had already secured a 13-point double-double, while Sasser scored seven points in the frame alone.
