Houston Rockets rookie Amen Thompson had his Summer League debut cut short after sustaining an ankle sprain with just under a minute remaining in Friday's 100-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
The Rockets are likely to keep Thompson out for the remainder of Summer League, sources told The Athletic's Kelly Iko and Shams Charania. He's scheduled to undergo an MRI on Saturday morning.
Thompson's ankle injury isn't considered serious, adds MacMahon.
The No. 4 pick landed awkwardly after blocking a shot attempt from Blazers center Ibou Badji.

The 6-foot-6 guard subsequently limped off the court and was assisted to the locker room.

Houston drafted Thompson with the fourth overall pick in this year's draft. The 20-year-old spent the past season with Overtime Elite, averaging 16.4 points, 5.9 boards, and 5.9 assists over 16 appearances.
Thompson had a strong showing in his first game for the Rockets, posting 16 points, five assists, four boards, four blocks, and three steals in 28 minutes of action.
