Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins will miss the club's final two regular-season games, head coach Steve Kerr announced Wednesday on 95.7 The Game's "Willard & Dibs."
Wiggins recently rejoined the club and took part in a full-court five-on-five scrimmage earlier in the day. The former No. 1 overall pick hasn't played since Feb. 13 as his father is reportedly dealing with a serious medical situation.
"We can't put him in a bad spot health-wise," Kerr said. "We gotta make sure we build him up. Get his strength and conditioning in a good place before we put him out there. ... He'll continue to work, and he'll ramp it up pretty quickly."
It's unclear if Wiggins will be back in the lineup when Golden State's postseason campaign begins.
Wiggins was averaging 17.1 points and shooting a career-high 39.6% from beyond the arc. The Canadian was a key part of the Warriors' title run a year ago, providing a secondary scoring option along with some stellar defensive play against Jayson Tatum in the Finals.
Golden State sits fifth in the West with a 42-38 record, just 0.5 games clear of the play-in tournament.
