The Chicago Bulls are closing in on a deal with free-agent guard Patrick Beverley for the rest of the season, Beverley's agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Los Angeles Lakers traded Beverley to the Orlando Magic at the Feb. 9 deadline. Orlando then reached a buyout agreement with the guard, allowing him to become a free agent.

With a full 17-man roster, the Bulls will have to waive a player to make room for Beverley, Wojnarowski notes.

A native of Chicago, Beverley landed with the Lakers last summer through a trade with the Utah Jazz. He started all 45 of his appearances for Los Angeles this season. The 34-year-old averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 26.9 minutes per contest.

The Bulls enter Monday two games behind the Toronto Raptors for the Eastern Conference's final play-in spot and 6.5 games back of the New York Knicks for a first-round playoff berth.
