Report: 7-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge to work out for Mavs

Veteran big man LaMarcus Aldridge will work out for the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Aldridge went unsigned last summer after spending the previous two campaigns with the Brooklyn Nets. The seven-time All-Star averaged 12.9 points, 5.5 boards, and one block over 47 appearances last season.

Dallas is currently starting Dwight Powell at the five with Christian Wood serving as the club's primary backup center.

The Mavs inked JaVale McGee to a three-year, $17.2-million contract in the offseason, but the 35-year-old has been in and out of the club's rotation.

Aldridge was one of the league's premier frontcourt players during his prime. The Texas product was a low-post threat and a reliable mid-range shooter. Aldridge expanded his range in the latter stages of his career, connecting on 37.5% of his triples across the last three seasons.

The Chicago Bulls selected Aldridge with the No. 2 overall pick in 2006 and subsequently dealt him to the Portland Trail Blazers on draft night. In just nine seasons, he became the Blazers' all-time leader in rebounds.
