The Washington Wizards have started trade discussions with multiple teams revolving around Rui Hachimura, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Josh Robbins.

The former lottery pick is drawing interest from several Western Conference teams in need of scoring, add Charania and Robbins.

Dealing Hachimura would relieve the club of its logjam at the forward position and create more financial flexibility this offseason.

Kyle Kuzma will enter free agency this summer if he declines his $13-million player option for 2023-24. Kristaps Porzingis can also enter the market if he opts out of his contract's final year.

Hachimura is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason. The Japanese forward is averaging 12.9 points, 4.4 boards, and 1.2 assists over 28 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign. He made the NBA's All-Rookie second team in 2020.

Washington selected Hachimura ninth overall in 2019 after a solid three-season career at Gonzaga, where he earned WCC Player of the Year honors and the Julius Erving Award as college basketball's top small forward.
