Boston Celtics center Robert Williams will make his first appearance of the season Friday against the Orlando Magic, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Williams has yet to play during the 2022-23 campaign due to his recovery from offseason knee surgery.

The 25-year-old defensive anchor last featured for the Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. He tore his meniscus late last season and was expected to miss four-to-six weeks after surgery, but he returned in less than a month to help Boston sweep the Brooklyn Nets in the first round.

Williams underwent an arthroscopic procedure on the same knee this past offseason. In September, the center said he had no regrets about returning so soon from his first surgery last season, which allowed him to help take the Celtics to The Finals.
