Luka: Tatum, Brown are NBA's 'best duo'
Luka Doncic was very complimentary of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown ahead of Wednesday's showdown between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.
"They're probably the No. 1 team in the league, and they probably have the best duo in the league, too," Doncic told reporters Wednesday, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
Tatum and Brown are the NBA's highest-scoring pair, registering a combined 55 points per contest. Tatum is fifth in the league's scoring race with an average of 30.2 points, while Brown is 15th with 25.3.
Both players have been driving forces in the Celtics' top-ranked offense. Boston is scoring 115.8 points per 100 possessions in lineups featuring Tatum and Brown.
It's unclear how close the club has come to breaking up the talented pair. Brown was mentioned in trade rumors last season, and once again in the summer when Kevin Durant requested to be dealt.
Doncic isn't quite sure why such a scenario would be entertained.
"I know people try to separate them, but they fit together, they went to The Finals last year," Doncic said. "So, I think those two are really great players."
