The Boston Celtics will host the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 18 to open the 2022-23 NBA season, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

A matchup between the defending champion Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers is reportedly also scheduled for the NBA's opening night.

The Celtics reached the NBA Finals last year, losing to the Warriors in six games.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat eliminated the 76ers in six games during the conference semifinals.

Boston and Philadelphia each won 51 games last season en route to finishing second and fourth in the East, respectively.
