The Boston Celtics listed center Robert Williams as questionable for Monday's Game 5 of The Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
Williams has played through soreness in his left knee throughout the playoffs after undergoing meniscus surgery in March. Although he's appeared in eight consecutive games for Boston, head coach Ime Udoka revealed Sunday that Williams tweaked his knee during Friday's 107-97 Game 4 loss to Golden State.
"He did not do a specific thing, so he doesn't know when it happened," Udoka said Sunday, courtesy of NBC Sports. "He just sprinted up and down one time after one possession and it was bothering him a little bit, and that's why he asked to come out.
"So, not a specific incident. We watched the film and nothing stood out there. ... (He's) doing better - the day off, the rest. He'll cool it today and tomorrow, and (we're) optimistic he'll be good to go. But we'll test it before the game, as usual."
Despite playing through discomfort, the 6-foot-8 big man has been instrumental for the Celtics, helping to protect the rim against the Warriors while also frustrating them around the basket on the offensive end.
After contributing just two points and rebounds apiece in a quiet 14 minutes in Game 2, the 24-year-old secured double-digit boards in Games 3 and 4 while also scoring eight and seven points, respectively. Williams also tallied a combined four steals and six blocks. In Game 1, he finished with eight points, six rebounds, and four blocks as the Celtics stunned the Warriors on their own court to open the series.
