Report: KAT receives stem cell treatment, platelet-rich plasma injections

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns underwent stem cell treatment and platelet-rich plasma injections to address injuries to his knees, left ankle, left wrist, and right finger Friday, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports.

Towns dealt with the ailments throughout the Timberwolves' first-round playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies. He sought out treatment options in the offseason as a means of hopefully avoiding surgery and not missing the start of next season's training camp.

Despite battling through various injuries, Towns still averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and two blocks per game versus Memphis. Over the course of 74 regular-season contests in 2021-22, the three-time All-Star recorded 24.6 points on a 53/41/82 shooting line, 9.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.1 blocks, and one steal.
