The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to interview Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin for their head coaching vacancy, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Griffin has been part of Nick Nurse's staff for the past four seasons, including the 2018-19 championship campaign. The 47-year-old previously served as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

This isn't the first time a team has shown interest in Griffin. He reportedly interviewed for the Magic's and Memphis Grizzlies' head coaching gigs in recent years.

The Lakers also apparently sought permission from the Bucks to speak with assistant Darvin Ham.

Hall of Fame bench boss Phil Jackson is said to be advising Los Angeles in its coaching search. He reportedly had a hand in the hiring of Frank Vogel three years ago.

The Lakers posted a 33-49 record this past season to finish 11th in the Western Conference.
