Toronto Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter of Game 1 against the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced.

He did not return.

Barnes suffered the injury when 76ers center Joel Embiid unintentionally stepped on his foot, causing Barnes' ankle to roll suddenly. He was helped to the locker room after lying on the court for several minutes in noticeable pain.

X-rays on Barnes' ankle were negative, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said postgame, courtesy of the Toronto Sun's Ryan Wolstat. The 20-year-old will undergo further imaging to determine the injury's severity.

Barnes was making his postseason debut for Toronto. The Rookie of the Year candidate finished two assists shy of a triple-double, recording 15 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and a block in 32 minutes.

The Raptors also lost forward Thaddeus Young to injury Saturday. The 33-year-old suffered a thumb sprain in the first half.
