Sacramento Kings forward Richaun Holmes will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season due to personal reasons, general manager Monte McNair announced Friday.

"I would like to thank everyone for their support during these difficult times. I love this team, I love my teammates, and I look forward to returning next year," Holmes said in a statement.

Holmes has taken a step back after averaging 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks across 61 starts last season. He lost his starting role following Sacramento's trade-deadline acquisition of Domantas Sabonis and posted just 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in the eight games he's played since Sabonis' arrival.

Holmes also missed consecutive contests earlier this month because of personal reasons.

The Kings (25-46) last qualified for the playoffs during the 2005-06 campaign and have endured 16 straight losing seasons.
