Atlanta Hawks big man John Collins is out for at least two weeks due to a plantar fascia tear in his right foot, the team announced on Friday.
Doctors determined surgery was unnecessary, but Collins will undergo a non-surgical procedure.
Collins also received an anti-inflammatory shot in his ring finger and was fitted with a specially made splint, which he'll wear for the remainder of the season.
The 24-year-old had been playing through the pain recently before the team decided to sit the forward for the foreseeable future, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania and Chris Kirschner.
The fifth-year forward's injury comes at a precarious time for the 34-35 Hawks. Atlanta currently occupies the final play-in berth in the Eastern Conference, sitting just four-and-a-half games above the 11th-place Washington Wizards.
Collins is averaging 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and one block while shooting 36.4% from distance in 54 games this season.
