Veteran big man DeAndre Jordan signed with the Philadelphia 76ers after clearing waivers Thursday, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey announced.

The three-time All-NBA selection began the 2021-22 campaign as the Los Angeles Lakers' starting center. However, Jordan fell out of the rotation in December and has made only five appearances over the Lakers' past 27 contests.

Jordan is averaging 4.1 points, 5.4 boards, and 0.8 blocks over 32 appearances this season. He'll provide some much-needed depth at the five behind Joel Embiid.

The 76ers save $2.3 million in luxury tax by signing Jordan as a free agent instead of claiming him on waivers, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Philadelphia released Willie Cauley-Stein from his 10-day contract to make room for Jordan.
