The Boston Celtics traded PJ Dozier, Bol Bol, a second-round pick, and cash to the Orlando Magic for a 2023 second-round pick, the Magic announced Thursday.
The 2023 pick Orlando sent Boston is protected between selections 31-55.
In a corresponding move, the Magic waived veteran guards Michael Carter-Williams and E'Twaun Moore. Orlando also ultimately waived Dozier, according to OrlandoMagic.com's Dan Savage.
Boston acquired Dozier and Bol from the Denver Nuggets in January, and both players are expected to miss the remainder of the season. By shedding the salaries before the end of the campaign, the Celtics duck below the luxury-tax line, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Bol will reach restricted free agency this summer. He's averaged 2.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.2 minutes per game for his career. Bol was once considered a potential lottery pick before injury concerns saw him slide to midway through the second round of the 2019 draft.
Dozier's $1.9-million cap hit will come off the books after this season.
