The Los Angeles Lakers may have dodged another bullet.
There's optimism that Carmelo Anthony's hamstring strain isn't serious, and he's expected to be day-to-day, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 37-year-old will reportedly miss Saturday's game against the New York Knicks and will be re-evaluated ahead of the Lakers' next game Tuesday versus the Milwaukee Bucks, Wojnarowski adds.
Anthony exited Thursday's contest against the Los Angeles Clippers midway through the second quarter. The veteran forward came up limping after pulling up for a mid-range jumper.
Anthony has been a vital part of the Lakers' reserve unit, averaging 13.4 points and shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc. Los Angeles is scoring 6.6 points more per 100 possessions when the 37-year-old is on the floor.
The Lakers have already been without LeBron James for the previous five contests and recently got Anthony Davis back after a 17-game absence.
