Report: Kerr set to be named Team USA head coach
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is expected to be formally named head coach of the U.S. senior men's national basketball team in the near future, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Kerr's staff will include the Phoenix Suns' Monty Williams, Miami Heat bench boss Erik Spoelstra, and Gonzaga head coach Mark Few.
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich guided Team USA to a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. His contract with USA Basketball ended at the completion of the Summer Games.
Kerr, who played for Popovich while with the Spurs as part of a 15-year NBA career, was an assistant on his former mentor's staff at the 2019 FIBA World Cup and 2020 Olympics.
Appointing Kerr will be new USA Basketball managing director Grant Hill's first major decision.
