Charlotte Hornets players LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Jalen McDaniels, and Mason Plumlee have all entered the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the team announced Saturday.
Ball and Rozier will be out for at least 10 days unless they're each able to produce two negative COVID-19 tests within a 24-hour period, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The Hornets - who are currently on a three-game losing streak - are slated to face the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers (twice), Sacramento Kings, and Dallas Mavericks in that span.
Ball has been exceptional in his second NBA season to this point and leads Charlotte in numerous statistical categories, including points (20), rebounds (7.7), assists (8.2), and steals (1.9) per game. As for Rozier, he's provided consistent scoring punch with 17.7 points per contest on 35% shooting from long range.
Plumlee has averaged 6.8 points and 7.3 rebounds across 20 starts, while McDaniels has been a steady contributor off the Hornets' bench. Charlotte is currently 13-11 and seventh in the Eastern Conference.
The league recently announced it has a 97% vaccination rate among its players and is reportedly encouraging them to receive booster shots.
