Amir Johnson headlines veteran additions for G League Ignite
Amir Johnson is among six veteran players who will suit up for the G League Ignite this season, the developmental team announced Thursday.
Johnson played in 15 games for the Ignite during their inaugural 2020-21 campaign, averaging 8.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.3 minutes. He played 14 years in the Association across four different teams.
Former Georgetown center Jesse Govan is also re-joining the Ignite for a second stint.
Dakarai Allen, Amauri Hardy, Pooh Jeter, and Malik Pope round out the list of veterans who will mentor the Ignite's prospects.
"We have a special group of veterans who have been super helpful and encouraging," Ignite head coach Jason Hart said in a statement.
Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green and Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga headlined last season's Ignite squad. Five-star recruits Jaden Hardy and Michael Foster are among the NBA prospects on the 2021-22 team.
