LeBron hopeful to play vs. Spurs after injuring leg in win over Grizzlies

LeBron James hopes to suit up Tuesday against the San Antonio Spurs after injuring his right leg in the Los Angeles Lakers' 121-118 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

James was hurt in a collision with Memphis forward Desmond Bane midway through the second quarter of Sunday's contest.

The four-time Finals MVP remained on the floor for several moments as L.A.'s medical staff evaluated him. He missed 26 games last season due to a high right ankle sprain and was affected by the injury during the playoffs.

"The first thing I was thinking to myself was, 'Not again,'" James said postgame, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "Because obviously, it was almost similar but not the same kind of play. Guy falls into my leg, and there's nothing you can do about it, and I couldn't get my leg out of there in time."

James stayed in the game and finished with 19 points, six boards, six assists, two steals, and two blocks in 40 minutes of play. The Lakers superstar said his leg felt "sore" afterward and that he'd receive "around-the-clock" treatment ahead of Tuesday's game.

The 36-year-old is averaging 26 points, 6.3 boards, 5.3 assists, and 1.7 steals through three contests this season.
