Gerald Green retires from NBA, will join Rockets as player development coach
Green was drafted with the 18th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2005 draft. After playing the first two seasons of his career in Beantown, Green suited up for seven other NBA organizations. The forward's most notable stretch came with the Phoenix Suns, where he averaged 14 points and three rebounds across two campaigns.
Known primarily for his athleticism and dunking abilities, Green won the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk contest and finished as a runner-up in the 2008 competition.
The 35-year-old last played in the NBA with the Rockets during the 2018-19 season. Green missed the entire 2019-20 campaign after undergoing surgery on his broken foot.
