Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert has sustained a stress fracture in his back, but the club is optimistic he'll return around the start of the upcoming campaign, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Indiana acquired LeVert last January as part of the James Harden blockbuster deal. The 27-year-old averaged 20.7 points, 4.9 assists, 4.6 boards, and 1.5 steals over 35 appearances with the team last season.

The Pacers' wing depth has been hit hard ahead of the 2021-22 campaign with TJ Warren sidelined indefinitely and Edmond Sumner out for the year due to injury.

Veteran guard Jeremy Lamb and 2021 first-round pick Chris Duarte could see increased minutes if LeVert is unable to suit up for the season opener.
