Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob was fined $50,000 for violating the NBA's anti-tampering rule, the league announced on Wednesday.

Lacob recently discussed the Warriors' lack of interest in disgruntled Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons.

"In some ways, it doesn't really fit what we're doing. He makes a lot of money," said Lacob. "And, can he finish games? I don't know."

He also compared Simmons' play style to current Warriors forward Draymond Green, calling their games "very similar."

In an attempt to duck the league's anti-tampering rules, Lacob only referred to Simmons as the "Defensive Player of the Year candidate in Philadelphia."

The Warriors have long been linked to the three-time All-Star, with the team looking for win-now pieces to fit alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Green.
