Jahlil Okafor's stay with the Brooklyn Nets was a short one.
The Nets placed Okafor on waivers Thursday, just five days after acquiring the former third overall pick from the Detroit Pistons in a swap that saw DeAndre Jordan head the other way.
Okafor, 25, appeared in 27 games for the Pistons last season, the fourth stop of a six-year NBA career.
The Duke product was selected No. 3 in the 2015 draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and was named to the NBA All-Rookie first team after averaging 17.5 points, seven rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.
Okafor and Sekou Doumbouya were shipped to the Nets in exchange for Jordan, four second-round picks, and cash considerations. The Pistons bought out Jordan, who then signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
