Joel Embiid is committing his future to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The two parties have agreed on a multi-year extension, the team announced.

The deal is a four-year, $196-million super-max contract, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

Embiid will be under contract with the team through the 2026-27 campaign and will pocket $261 million, which includes the $65 million he was slated to receive for the next two seasons.

Embiid's extension will commence at the start of the 2023-24 season and take into account the projected $124.95 million salary cap for that year.

The four-time All-Star's new terms are fully guaranteed and do not feature injury provisions like his previous five-year, $147.7-million agreement with the organization, according to Shelburne.

Embiid, who represented himself in negotiations, became eligible for a super-max extension after finishing runner-up to Nikola Jokic in MVP voting at the completion of the 2020-21 campaign. Embiid averaged 28.5 points and 10.6 rebounds in 51 regular-season outings, guiding the Sixers to the top record in the Eastern Conference.

The 27-year-old was drafted by the Sixers with the third overall selection in the 2014 draft, averaging 24.8 points and 11.3 boards in 260 regular-season games across five seasons.

Embiid becomes the eighth player to sign a super-max extension, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, and Rudy Gobert.
