Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams voiced his displeasure with the officiating following Sunday's 120-100 Game 3 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
"I’m not going to get into complaining publicly about fouls. ... But we had 16 free throws tonight. One person had 17," Williams told reporters postgame.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led all players in Game 3 with 17 free-throw attempts. The Bucks finished with 10 more free-throw attempts and six fewer personal fouls than Phoenix.
Suns star Deandre Ayton produced a strong opening quarter, but foul trouble diminished his impact for the remainder of the contest. The 2018 No. 1 overall pick spent the majority of Game 3 defending Antetokounmpo.
"We gotta define what is a legal guarding position. ... It's hard to tell a guy what to do when he's running into you," Williams said, according to Forbes' Evan Sidery.
There wasn't as much of a free-throw disparity through Games 1 and 2, as Phoenix registered only one more attempt from the charity stripe than Milwaukee.
The Suns hold a 2-1 series lead.
