The Orlando Magic received permission to interview Los Angeles Lakers assistant Jason Kidd for their head coaching vacancy, sources told Fox Sports' Melissa Rohlin.

The interview will reportedly take place sometime this week.

Kidd previously received interest from the Portland Trail Blazers for their own vacancy. However, the former Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks head coach recused himself from their search earlier this month after Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard publicly called for the team to hire him.

In one season with the Nets and four with the Bucks, Kidd, 48, went a combined 183-190 during the regular season. He reached the playoffs in three of those five years and took Brooklyn to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2014.

Orlando is searching for a new head coach after mutually agreeing to part ways with Steve Clifford following three seasons together. San Antonio Spurs assistant Becky Hammon will also reportedly interview for the opening. The Magic have apparently also expressed interest in Portland's former head coach Terry Stotts.
