Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam underwent surgery last week to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and is expected to require approximately five months for recovery and rehabilitation, the team announced Friday.
That timeline would keep Siakam out into November, with next season reportedly set to tip off Oct. 19.
The 27-year-old initially suffered the injury May 8 against the Memphis Grizzlies. At the time, Toronto deemed the injury a shoulder strain. He then missed the final four games of the regular season.
In his fifth NBA campaign, Siakam registered 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 56 appearances, but the Raptors failed to make the postseason for the first time since 2013.
Next season will be the second year of the four-year, $130-million maximum rookie extension he signed in 2019. The one-time All-Star and 2019 Most Improved Player is under contract through 2023-24.
