The Los Angeles Lakers were missing their two biggest stars Wednesday against the Houston Rockets.

LeBron James sat out his sixth consecutive game as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis is sidelined after experiencing groin tightness during Tuesday's win over the New York Knicks, the team announced Wednesday, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

James was reportedly aiming to play Tuesday against the New York Knicks as well. The Lakers have gone 3-2 during the 36-year-old's most recent absence.

Los Angeles has two more regular-season games remaining after Wednesday's tilt against Houston. The club trails the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks by one game in the standings, but both teams hold head-to-head tiebreakers over the Lakers.
