Curry edges Beal for scoring title, Westbrook wins assist crown

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is the NBA's scoring champion for the second time in his career.

Curry clinched the scoring title over Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal during the first quarter of the Warriors' 113-101 win against the Memphis Grizzlies. He finished the victory with 46 points - recording his 11th 40-plus-point game this season - to help Golden State clinch the Western Conference's No. 8 seed entering the play-in tournament.

The 33-year-old becomes the second-oldest player in league history to win a scoring title. During the 1997-98 campaign, Michael Jordan led the NBA in scoring at the age of 34 with 28.7 points per game. Curry also joins Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players to win multiple scoring titles, MVP awards, and NBA championships.

Curry, who averaged 32 points per game over 63 contests, relied on his incredible shooting touch to pace the league in scoring. The sharpshooter drained 300-plus threes in a season for the fourth time in his career. Brooklyn Nets guard James Harden is the only other player in league history to accomplish that feat after doing so in 2018-19.

Washington Wizards floor general Russell Westbrook took home his third career assist title, while Atlanta Hawks big man Clint Capela earned recognition as the league's top rebounder.
