The NBA and its players' union have discussed adding a Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contest to its proposed All-Star Game in Atlanta on the weekend of March 6-7, sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.
Both sides have reportedly been talking about holding the annual midseason showcase event in Georgia's capital city to provide support for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and COVID-19 relief.
Indianapolis was the original host city for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. However, those plans were scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic and scheduling conflicts with this year's NCAA Tournament.
While details regarding a potential All-Star Weekend remain unclear, fan voting for the All-Star Game officially began last Thursday.
Regardless of what eventually transpires, the NBA will hold an "All-Star break" from March 5-10.
