Karl-Anthony Towns tests positive for COVID-19

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns tested positive for COVID-19, he revealed through social media on Friday.

Towns said he received his positive test result prior to Friday's game between the Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies. The contest has since been postponed due to contact tracing within the Timberwolves organization, which brought the league-wide number of postponements this season to 13.

The 25-year-old has been severely impacted by COVID-19 since the pandemic began. Towns revealed last month he's lost seven family members to the disease, including his mother in April.

"I pray every day that this nightmare of a virus will subside and I beg everyone to continue to take it seriously by taking all of the necessary precautions," Towns wrote.

"To my niece and nephew, Jolani and Max, I promise you I will not end up in a box next to grandma and I will beat this."

Towns is averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 4.5 assists through four appearances this season.
