Karl-Anthony Towns reveals he's lost 7 relatives to COVID-19

Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns revealed Friday he's now lost seven total family members to COVID-19 and that he "hasn't been in a good place" since his mother was hospitalized prior to her death in April, according to ESPN's Malika Andrews.

"I'm the one looking for answers to try to keep my family well-informed and make all the moves necessary to keep them alive," Towns added.

Towns' parents, Jacqueline and Karl, both contracted COVID-19 earlier this year. While his father recovered, Jacqueline was placed into a medically induced coma in late March before succumbing to her illness in mid-April.

Nearly a month before his mother's passing, Towns pledged $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic to increase COVID-19 testing.

Last month, the two-time All-Star released an 18-minute video detailing his experiences through what he described as "the toughest year of my life."
